Comments

Mooneys are among the most efficient and structurally sound airplanes manufactured.  The low profile cross-section and laminar flow wings reduce drag to enable the fast air speeds typically unachievable in other manufacturers' airplanes with similar horsepower.  The tubular steel frame, acting as a cockpit roll cage, along with the wingtip-to-wingtip wing spar make the Mooney airframe the strongest and safest among GA airplanes.

The M20J, first introduced in July 1976 as the 1977 Model 201, included a variety of airframe enhancements engineered by Roy LoPresti that increased the top speed by 16 mph over the M20F model.  The M20J, branded the 201, since it achieve 201 mph on only a 200 hp engine, was a significant milestone in Mooney's history.  Mooney continued improving the features and creature comforts in the "J" model until production ceased at the end of the 1998 production year.

In 1985 Mooney offered the SE (Special Edition) version which included more plush interior and more comfortable seats with lumbar support.  This '85 SE has always been hangared and, as such, has a very clean airframe.   It flies and runs great!  The panel is full IFR with a KAP 150 autopilot and King HSI.  While it is shown with a King KLN 88 GPS, we are replacing that with a newer KLN 90A.   Mod Works installed the speed modifications similar to those on post-1990 MSE models.  The interior is very nice and comfortable for long cross country flights.  The engine continues to run strong with good compressions (76/76/77/75) and normal oil consumption.  As with many of the airplanes we sell, Air-Mods has maintained this airplane for the last 11 years and we know the airplane inside and out.
