Beechcraft’s Baron evolved from the Beechcraft 95 Travel Air in 1961. The initial model 55 was soon followed by the improved A55 in 1962. The Baron set the standard for light twins and remains in production today with the G58 model. The larger and more powerful model 58, introduced in 1969, was developed from the Baron 55 and included a longer fuselage that allowed club seating for six, double aft baggage doors, and an increased gross weight from 5,100 to 5,400 lbs. This Baron 58 has been converted as a cargo hauler (no rear seats) and is certified for flight into known icing. While it could use work to improve the cosmetics, it was on Part 135 and is in excellent mechanical condition. Most of the gauges were recently replaced or overhauled and all of the equipmement, including the radar, work well. This provides economical entry into the realm of light twins. You can either use it as a cargo hauler or, as you budget allows, upgrade the cosmetics, install a new interior, and restore it to its club seating configuration. |
