Piper introduced the Seneca II in 1975 with upgraded control surfaces, the addition of a rudder anti-servo tab, and a stabilator bobweight to improve handling qualities. Additionally, the PA-34-200"T" was powered by turbocharged, six cylinder Continental TSIO L/TSIO-360E engines for improved performance, particularly at higher altitudes. The Seneca II retained the counter-rotating engine arrangement of the earlier Seneca I. The Seneca II also introduced optional "club seating" whereby the two center-row seats face rearwards and the two back seats face forward allowing more legroom in the passenger cabin. This Seneca has a well-equipped panel with dual WAAS GPS’s, HSI, EFIS, audio panel, autopilot, and Strikefinder…and it’s Garmin GTX 330 provides an economical path for upgrading to ADS-B to meet the January 2020 requirements. While the engines in this Seneca are past ‘recommended’ TBO, they run well and have normal compressions and oil consumptions. All in all, this airplane is priced right and provides an economical entry into the realm of light twins. |
