Mooney drivers share a unique and deeply seated characteristic – they like to go fast! Mooneys are among the most effecient and structurally sound airplanes manufactured. The M20R Ovation is fast! Introduced in 1994, the 190-knot Ovation filled the gap between the M20J MSE (201) and the M20M turbocharged TLS. The Ovation took advantage of Continental’s proven six-cylinder, normally-aspirated, 550 engine. Mooney chose the smooth running IO-550-G with new tuned induction air tubes for more even fuel distribution. The 280 HP engine operates at a max 2500 RPM resulting in a quieter cabin and a 2000 hour TBO. The new design eliminated the need for cowl flaps since the temperatures will stay well within the green arc even on a steep descent with the use of the factory speed brakes. The Ovation was the first normally aspirated, piston powered, single engine airplane to be cerrtified for flight into known icing (FIKI). The TKS anti-ice certification required electrical redundancy so it comes with with dual 28 volt alternators and batteries providing an eextra margin of backup power if ever needed. This particular Ovation is in execellent condition. The cylinder assemblies were replaced about 650 hours ago and the engine runs strong. Since it has always been hangared, the paint and interior are very good. The avionics provide just about everything an IFR pilot would demand including dual Garmin Nav/Com/GPS’s, TCAS, XM weather, O2 and more! This is truly a great cross-country airplane!
