Mooneys are among the most efficient and structurally sound airplanes manufactured. The low profile cross-section and laminar flow wings reduce drag to enable the fast air speeds typically unachievable in other manufacturers’ airplanes with similar horsepower. The tubular steel frame, acting as a cockpit roll cage, along with the wingtip-to-wingtip wing spar make the Mooney airframe the strongest and safest among GA airplanes.
The M20F Executive, first introduced in 1966, adds 20 fuel-injected hp over the M20C, 10 inches of additional cabin length and 165 lb increase in gross weight over the M20C and M20E. The 10 inches of lengthened cabin space is split between 5 inches of rear seat leg room and five inches of luggage space – making long trips much more comfortable as a 4-place airplane. This Executive includes the “Trophy 211” compliment of modifications which include the M20J (201) cowl, instrument panel, upgraded engine, new interior, and the speed mods that, in essence, turns the “F” into the faster “J” model. Reese Aircraft just repainted the wing. The three-blade Scimitar prop was overhauled and the governor was replaced (both have 12 hrs). We just conducted a very extensive annual replacing the battery, boost pump, tires, and more. The engine runs strong with normal compressions and oil consumption. With a capable IFR panel, the airplane is ready for it’s next cross-country flight. For the pilot looking for a fast, complex, cross-country “J” model at an entry level price, this is a great airplane! |
