Founded in 1986 by brothers, Luigi and Giovanni Pascale, Costruzioni Aeronautiche Tecnam is an Italian aeronautics manufacturer that produces parts for other manufacturers and its light aircraft. With its first flight on September 30, 2008, the P2008 was introduced at the AERO Friedrichshafen 2009 show and is the first Tecnam aircraft to incorporate major composite components, though the wings and tailplane are all-metal. This blending of materials results in an unparalleled balance of flight control feel, comfortable cross-country ride and room to stretch out. The first delivery here in the U.S. was in December 2009.
The P2008, with its carbon fiber fuselage and turbo-charged Rotax 912ULS flat four-piston engine, qualifies here in the U.S. as a Light-Sport Aircraft (LSA). It also sports a two-blade propeller, fixed tricycle undercarriage and spring cantilever main legs. The compact, yet roomy cabin, includes Garmin’s G3X touch suite with two 10.6-inch screens, transponder, autopilot, ELT, and more. |
