Mooney drivers share a unique and deeply seated characteristic – they like to go fast! If a Cessna is akin to a Chevrolet and a Bonanza is akin to a Mercedes, then the Mooney is akin to a Porsche. Mooneys are among the most efficient and structurally sound airplanes manufactured. The low profile cross-section and laminar flow wings reduce drag to enable the fast air speeds typically unachievable in other manufacturers’ airplanes with similar horsepower. The tubular steel frame, acting as a cockpit roll cage, along with the wingtip-to-wingtip wing spar, make the Mooney airframe the strongest and safest among GA airplanes.
1969 was the second year for the M20C “Ranger” model which is the most common of the classic Mooneys. The ’69 Ranger model was upgraded with a one-piece windshield, electrically operated landing gear and flaps, and reclining rear seats. This airplane features very nice paint and interior that will turn heads as you taxi to the ramp. The panel, already with ADS-B-Out meeting the 2020 requirements, is perfectly suited for $100 hamburger flights or ready for the new owner to customize to their own requirements. Mooney Rangers provide easy entry into complex airplanes for new or experienced pilots. And, with current trepidation of flying on commercial airlines, this airplane is a very stable and efficient cross-country airplane with performance that won’t break the bank. |
